This week, Donald Trump referred to as for Republicans to “nationalize” the upcoming elections—despite the fact that state and native officers are charged with this position. Panelists on Washington Week With The Atlantic joined to debate this and extra.
When Trump got here into his second time period, he tried to “eliminate mail voting, he tried to vary machine know-how, he tried to impose voter ID—nearly all of that has been thrown out by the courts,” Atlantic employees author Michael Scherer mentioned final evening. “What we’ve seen within the final couple weeks, although, is one thing else: He’s utilizing the total energy of the federal authorities … to suck up data to try to affirm the debunked theories that he has concerning the 2020 elections.” The president, Scherer added, is appearing “within the hope that he may discover a spark in all of the smoke that’s been created by his allies.”
